Freshening Up a Mature Organization’s Story

Back again? Hello, it’s the Nonprofit Everything Podcast! This week Stacey has some thoughts about how to keep a fifty-year-old nonprofit’s story fresh. Also, we chat about consent agendas and what they’re used for, and Andy gets philosophical about synchronizing gifts in the donor management system and the accounting system. Thanks for joining us this week, and be sure to send your questions to questions@nonprofiteverything.com.

Running a Nonprofit More Like a Business

Is it possible to refrain from physical violence when the words “run it more like a business” fall out of the mouth of a board member? Probably not, but Stacey and Andy have some coping strategies. Also this week, we talk about how to keep the energy of a good mission, vision and values discussion, and finally, now that you’re receiving federal grant money is it time to hire a grant accountant?

Complaining to the Board Chair

What do you do when someone makes a complaint directly to your board chair? Stacey has some thoughts. Also, a board wants to keep the budget a secret from the executive director, and somebody wants to know about booking discounts for services as revenue, so (of course) Andy talks about that for what seems like hours!
